Joseph Barral is an interdisciplinary artist whose work concentrates on semiotics and unknown symbolism. His curious yet inviting balloon imagery lives in the space between familiar and foreign, drawing into question the origins of iconography. His combination of real (& invented) symbolism is paired with modern day visuals and poetic text. Joseph’s work has been exhibited in New York, Boston, Los Angles, Philadelphia, Houston and Portland. His work can also be found in many private art collections in the United States.

Joseph earned a BFA from the School of Visual Arts with concentrations in Graphic Design & Art Therapy. Born and raised on Staten Island, Joseph now resides and has his studio in Brooklyn NY.
